About the Getting to Know You category

Introductions, networking and community building posts

We’d like to encourage all new community members to kick things off with a Getting to Know You post. This makes it easier for us to get to know each other’s strengths and desired areas for growth. We recommend that you link to this post regularly as a form of shorthand, in case people would like some additional background about who you are.

Here are a few prompts for a great Getting to Know You Post:

  • Tell us about where you are, and how you are musically active. (Are you a conductor, a director, a worship leader, or all of the above? Who are the people you’re working with musically?)

  • Tell us a little about how you have already attempted to Direct Across Distance. (What is working for you and your group? What is not working?)

  • Tell us about what you hope to be able to find here so community users can help point you in the right direction quickly. (Are you looking for tech help? Do you want to share a success story? Do you have great ideas that could be applied more widely? Looking for lesson plans or activities?)

  • Tell us about other musical communities or organizations that are important to you as you navigate this unusual time. Where are you finding good info?

  • Share one thing you’re really proud of. How about a link that tells us something unique about you?
