About Me: Steve Danielson - conductor, composer, music educator

Hello everyone!
My name is Steve Danielson and I’m one of the moderators for this forum. I’m really excited for this opportunity to work on bridging the gap between virtual performances to meeting face-to-face. I think this community will help us navigate the changing face of music making.

Currently, I’m Conductor and Artistic Director for the Ensign Symphony & Chorus in Seattle, WA. We have completed our first virtual Symphony and Chorus experiment (Beethoven’s Hallelujah) and we’re in the middle of working on our second. I also conduct a young men’s ensemble, Forza, with the Olympia Youth Chorus. I’m in the middle of trying to get my foot in the door in higher education. I’m also a self-published conductor, mostly of choral music, but with some instrumental and choral/orchestral offerings as well. You can see more at my website:

I’m interested to see what other people have done with ZOOM, virtual projects that have been completed, and the myriad other options that don’t fall into those categories at all. I have been involved in virtual choirs for 11 years (including part of the very first one!) and am at least aware of the process. I like looking for new ways to create music and foster music education.

I hope to engage with many of you in the future. Feel free to ask questions or send comments my way. See you in the forums!
